Belgium, European capital, cosmopolitan and multicultural and always in fashion, has known how to conserve a style of its own.
Its capital is Brussels, a city which is known above all for its amazing Grand Place and the Atomium, as well as being headquarters to the institutions of many of its federated organisations and some institutions of the European Union, such as the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the commissions of the European Parliament, the European Council, the Committee of the Regions and the Economic and Social Committee.
Apart from the Belgian capital, there are several outstanding cities, such as Tournai, which is a medieval city in southern Belgium. The most outstanding places to visit are the Grand Place and the cathedral of Our Lady of Tournai, designated a World Heritage site.
Another example is Ghent, which lies between the Leie and Scheldt rivers and is the second largest medieval city in Europe, after Paris. The Voor Schone Kunsten Museum (Museum of Fine Arts) is particularly remarkable.
In Antwerp, in the centre of Flanders, is the Cathedral of Our Lady, in which we can see the works of Rubens, who was a native of the city.
Namur is the capital of Wallonia. The most outstanding feature of Namur is the Citadel, although art lovers should not miss the chance to visit St Aubin’s Cathedral.
Belgium is a country with no end of tourist attractions to see and enjoy.
